I Lead Strong!
Recently Jesus asked me to start leading strong! I wondered, "What does "Lead Strong" mean?"God reminded me that twenty years ago when He sent our family of five to San Diego to plant a church, I felt insecure and unqualified to pastor. I reminded God that I was not raised in a pastors home, I didn’t play the piano, and I didn’t look or dress like a pastor. But Jesus asked me to be a pastor and I answered, "YES!" in obedience. We left a successful business, lots of best friends and family, an amazing church and beautiful home behind. We came to San Diego, on our God adventure, to start a great loving serving church. We knew no one in San Diego except Christina Zazueta who lived in TJ. (She became our first member and is still with us. Thank you, Christina, for your friendship and faithfulness.)Upon arriving in San Diego, I asked God, "How can I pastor women well?”. God quickly answered me by telling me two words: Love and Serve. He told me to love the women like I love my boys. He asked me to serve the women the way Jesus served. Reading the Bible I got two verses:
- Matt 20: 28 ...just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.
- John 15:13 The greatest love you can have for your friends is to give your life for them.
In the past twenty years I have tried to be obedient to the two words Jesus gave me to love and serve women. But this summer I felt The Holy Spirit tell me to lead strong and He wanted all of the women in our church to lead strong too. I have been asking the Holy Spirit to show me what this means ...to lead strong? And to give us a scripture to follow hard after. So I am asking every lady in our church to answer this question:How do you lead strong?Ask God and listen. How is Jesus asking you to lead strong?
- Maybe in your personal life... Jesus is saying to pray more, read the word or think and talk positive?
- In your family life, ask Jesus how can you lead strong? Talk kinder and show more love to yourself, your husband and children.
- In your church you can lead strong by giving 10% of your time - one hour per week (168 hours in a week) to lead a ministry. Or give a large financial gift?
You can make someone else’s life better just because you lead strong. Yes, you can!(I love my friend, Rocio, who went through a painful divorce with 4 boys and she is now leading a healing group!). You can lead strong at work by doing your best job - not surfing the internet on work time plus being positive and happy. Our women’s FAME One Day Event is “I LEAD STRONG”!We named it in honor of what God is speaking to us:I LEAD STRONGI would love to hear your story on how you lead strong.
